Here at our office we incorporate computerized technology to assist in the evaluation of eye glass prescriptions, peripheral vision and eye health. Computerized examination instruments are used to supplement rather than replace personalized care. With our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software we have been able to increase the time spent with the doctor thereby enabling us to perform a more thorough examination.
Neurolens® Screening
If you suffer from headaches, end of day eye fatigue, dry eye, dizziness or neck pain, a misalignment between your eyes could be the problem. Our practice is excited to now offer Neurolens® – a revolutionary new glasses lens design that corrects eye misalignment and has helped thousands of patients alleviate these symptoms. Neurolenses® can reduce the painful symptoms of overworked eyes for prescription lens wearers, contact lens wearers and even people who wear no lenses at all. Here’s how: When we focus up close, the disparity between comfortable vision and required vision causes painful symptoms such as headaches, eye strain, neck and shoulder pain, dry eye and dizziness. Neurolenses ® relieve these symptoms to restore naturally comfortable vision. It’s Ahhh for your eyes!
Optomap® Retinal Exam
Annual eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health. We offer the Optomap® Retinal Exam as an important part of our eye exams. The Optomap® Retinal Exam produces an image that is as unique as your fingerprint and provides us with a wide view to look at the health of your retina.Optomap
Often times eye diseases do not have significant symptoms and can go unnoticed threatening our sight. Optomap® testing allows earlier detection of macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments and eye disease as a result of diabetes or high blood pressure. Earlier detection allows for earlier treatment and preservation of sight.
Optomap® Retinal Exam provides:
- A scan to show a healthy eye or detect disease
- A view of the retina, giving our doctors a more detailed view that cannot be achieved by other means
- The opportunity for you to view and discuss the Optomap® image of your eye with our doctors at the time of your exam
- A permanent record for your file, which allows us to view your images each year to look for changes
The Optomap® Retinal Exam is fast, easy, and comfortable for all ages. To have the exam, you simply look into the device one eye at a time and you will see a comfortable flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken. The Optomap® image is shown immediately on a computer screen so we can review it with you.
I-Vue – Optical Coherence Tomography
The iWellnessExam uses state-of-the-art spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to produce high definition images of the layers of the retina (sensitive area of the back of the eye). Often compared to an MRI or CT scan, SD-OCT images provide stunning details of retinal structures that are not visible with other examination techniques or tests. This is important because it enables the doctor to detect very early signs of vision threatening disease, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and others. When diagnosed early, these conditions are easier to treat, slowing progression and often avoiding vision loss.
Did you know…
- Sight-threatening eye diseases often have no outward signs or symptoms in the early stages.
- State-of-the-art technology can help your doctor see early signs of these diseases.
- Early detection and treatment of eye disease may reduce your risk of vision loss
Regular iWellness exams can help your doctor detect common eye diseases:
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Glaucoma
- Macular Degeneration
The iWellnessExam is fast, easy, and comfortable for patients of all ages and gives your doctor valuable information about the health of your eyes and your most precious gift – your sight.
KR-8000 Auto-Refractor/Keratometer
The innovative design of the KR-8000 enables accurate, reliable refraction and keratometric measurements within a pupil dilation as narrow as 2.0mm. This means easier and more precise diagnostic results when dealing with glaucoma, asymmetric pupils, or elderly patients.
Totally reliable and totally accurate with Topcon’s Rotary Prism Measuring System, our advanced rotary prism principle is able to obtain highly reliable data. The off-centered ring target is able to measure areas previously occluded by a small pupil. The prism angle enables a much wider fundus area to be measured. Accordingly, the measurement image provides extremely reliable data.
Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer G3
Ocular Response Analyzer® (ORA) is the only tonometer that measures Corneal Hysteresis (CH), a superior predictor of glaucoma progression. Corneal Hysteresis is an indication of the biomechanical properties of the cornea differing from thickness or topography, which are geometrical attributes.
CH measurements are significantly associated with risk of glaucoma progression. Eyes with lower CH had faster rates of visual field loss than those with higher CH.
In addition to Corneal Hysteresis, Ocular Response Analyzer provides Corneal Compensated Intraocular Pressure (IOPcc), a better indication of the true pressure, proven to be less influenced by corneal properties than Goldmann or other methods of tonometry.
OCULUS Centerfield® 2
OCULUS Centerfield® 2 is the only compact perimeter capable to perform measurements up to 70°. Its closed construction makes examinations largely independent of ambient illumination. Therefore, visual field tests no longer need to be carried out in absolutely dark rooms.
